About Us
DASH was formed by Tanya Grabnar in 2007 from a passion for both the environment and buildings.  Tanya has spent the past 12 years practising as a registered architect and has experience in commercial, residential and environmental architecture through working for large Melbourne based architectural offices and as a sole practitioner.

After much research into sustainable products in the building industry, Tanya came to understand that allot of products are marketed as being sustainable and environmentally friendly, when in fact, they are not.  This makes it difficult to know what to buy.  It also means you have to have allot of time to dedicate into finding which products are sustainable. The building industry is a massive industry that consumes incredible amounts of resources and is generally quite unsustainable in its practices.  You can't build anything without impacting on the environment, but you can build responsibly and significantly lessen your impact, which in turn creates market pressure on manufacturers to change and be more environmentally responsible.
It is this extensive background that allows DASH to offer the following three different services:
  • The range of pre-designed homes. This is aimed at creating a truly sustainable, energy efficient housing package that is architect designed without the costs of hiring an architect.
  • A standard architectural service. This service is for you if budget is not a major issue and you want a unique house that expresses not only your needs but also who you are.
  • A consultancy service where you can get advice on the types of materials and finishes to use in your building, extension or weekend project to make sure the outcome is sustainable.
Materials that the houses can be built from include straw bale, rammed earth, reverse recycled brick veneer (where the brick, exposed or treated, is in on the inside, insulated from the elements) and double recycled brick.
